Juan Camilo Solanilla

Principal Consultant

Juan Camilo Solanilla is an accomplished executive in talent management and organizational development, with a distinguished track record across both strategic human resources consulting and senior leadership roles in some of Latin America's most respected companies. His expertise spans the design, transformation, and execution of people management, leadership, and culture models that align rigorously with business strategy while placing people at the center of value creation, generating the organizational capabilities that sustain long-term competitive advantage.

Juan Camilo currently serves as Principal Consultant at The RBL Group, where he partners with organizations across Latin America to build leadership capabilities, reshape organizational cultures, and deliver measurable business results through human capital transformation.

With a career built at the intersection of consulting and executive practice, Juan Camilo has earned a reputation as a strategic business partner who translates people strategy into tangible competitive advantage. His approach combines operational depth with a clear strategic lens: he is known for designing and executing talent and culture models that are fully anchored in the business agenda, rather than running in parallel to it.

Prior to joining The RBL Group, Juan Camilo served as Vice President of Talent and Culture at CasaLuker S.A., one of Colombia's most iconic business groups. In this role, he led the redesign of the function's structure and operating model to serve the company's two core businesses, Luker Colombia and Luker Chocolate, under a corporate shared model. He defined the medium and long-term people strategies for each business based on their strategic priorities, led the teams responsible for all talent, culture, and administrative processes, and represented the function on the Executive Committee of both businesses, contributing to the most consequential strategic conversations and decisions of the company.

Earlier in his career, Juan Camilo spent more than three years at Alpina, one of Colombia's leading food companies, where he held progressively senior roles. As interim Director of Talent and Culture, he led the team responsible for all talent and culture processes and represented the function on the company's Executive Committee, participating in the strategic decisions shaping the business. As Director of Employee Closeness and Experience, he led Labor Relations, HR Business Partnering for the Commercial, Marketing, Operations, and administrative Vice Presidencies, and Occupational Health and Safety. His results in this role were exceptional. He reduced unwanted labor conflict, including lawsuits and legal actions from employees and from the 13 unions operating at the company, by more than 70%, generating significant savings in legal fees, judicial awards, and administrative burden while transforming the company's relationship with its workforce. Under his leadership, total workplace accidents fell by 30%, serious accidents by 55%, and absenteeism by 17%, accomplished by building a culture of leaders accountable for the care of their people. He also co-led five efficiency and operational redesign projects across manufacturing, logistics, and commercial operations, protecting labor continuity and the sustainability of the business throughout each transition.

Juan Camilo complements his executive career with an active academic contribution. He serves as an adjunct professor of Human Management at CESA (Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración) and has taught in Universidad del Rosario's specialization program on Human Management, leading a course on New Forms of Work, bringing the field's most current thinking to the next generation of Colombian HR and business leaders.

His ongoing professional development includes executive programs at IESE Business School in Effective and Creative Negotiation (2023) and Talent Management in the Digital Era (2021), along with specialized training in compensation with Mercer and job evaluation with Hay Group. This blend of hands-on operating experience at the highest levels of major companies, consulting perspective, and continuous formal learning gives him a distinctively integrated view of how talent and culture create business value.

A proud Colombian, Juan Camilo works fluently in Spanish and English and operates across Latin America, combining deep regional understanding with a global outlook on human capital and organizational transformation. His ability to connect with leaders, diagnose complex organizational realities, and translate strategy into people and culture decisions makes him a trusted partner for companies seeking to build sustainable competitive advantage through their people.
