By | July 21, 2021

Research from Round 8 of the Human Resource Competency Study (HRCS) revealed three ways to navigate HR’s impact: improve (or upgrade) your HR competencies, transform your HR department, and embed business capabilities.

For over 30 years, the Human Resource Competency Study (HRCS) has empirically defined the competencies of HR professionals and how those HR professionals become more personally effective, create value for all stakeholders and deliver business results. Conducted by The RBL Group in partnership with the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan along with , Round 8 surveyed almost 29,000 respondents from more than 1,000 organizations.

This report contains the findings from Round 8 of the research study. It identifies the five critical competency domains HR professionals must have and answers the question “How can HR accelerate the business through advancing human capability?” The report also shows the ever-increasing importance of effective HR departments in creating value for key stakeholders.

The results simultaneously build upon insights from prior rounds and generate new insights for HR. This research can help HR professionals and departments learn how to utilize their expanding role to meet broader business challenges.
